Richard is a guitarist/composer originally from Madison, WI, but is currently based in Hollywood CA. In addition to being an in demand audio electronics geek, Richard has operated a studio for over 10 years where he has produced a variety of artists and composed music for independent films and commercials. In 2006, he released a CD of instrumental compositions entitled Phenomenation, featuring his guitar work backed by orchestra and rhythm section. The CD received critical acclaim and airplay from non-commercial radio stations all over the world.

Richard Zeier - Composer/Produce

Hollywood, California based composer Richard Zeier employs a heavy dose of modern virtual instruments, along with seasoned real-world guitar and bass chops, to produce multi-genre collages that span and combine elements of Rock, Jazz, Symphonic, Funk and Electronic music.

On par with his composing and production expertise, Richard's electronic engineering background is a great resource for maintaining a modern production facility. His studio is equipped with high-end computers running the latest versions of Pro Tools, Nuendo, and the Vienna Symphonic Library, along with an entire arsenal of plugins and virtual instruments capable of producing any sound imaginable. As a compliment to the new tech, vintage analog hardware, and quality musical instruments are used with a myriad of unique one-of-a-kind electronics, personally engineered by Richard, including a world famous heavily modified Soundcraft mixing console.

Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Richard began writing and performing original songs at an early age and became active in the Mad City club scene during college. As Indie bands were becoming more sought out, a perceptive radio DJ, who featured a 30-minute set of Richard's original music, gave him just the right amount of encouragement to set him on a journey west, in search of a deeper pool of opportunity.

Arriving in the middle of the Hollywood scene was like an invigorating immersion into another planet - rich with cultural diversity. The Hip Hop, Punk, Jazz, and Latin musicians he encountered, jammed with and produced, were a wellspring of new inspiration, adding more flavors and spices to his musical pallet.

UCLA Extension's Film Scoring program proved to be an invaluable step in his music education. Composing for live orchestra and writing to picture brought new insight to the dynamics of film as an artform, and imparted cinematic elements to all of Richard's music.

A fortunate opportunity to acquire a residential/commercial property at a strategic location in Hollywood became one of those fork-in-the-road turns that provided Richard with a musical base of operations. This became Pearl Music Studios and allowed him to compose, produce, and continue to build his music library. The studio provided an optimal facility, where he went on to produce albums for several artists and score multiple independent films. Work in the studio led to engineering credits on a Grammy nominated album, and guitar music credits for an Oscar nominated film.

In 2006 Richard released his first Instrumental album entitled "Phenomenation." The work received consistently high marks from the media, for content and production, and several of the tracks received radio airplay on at least 4 continents. The album is still generating royalties.

Currently Richard is licensing music for film and TV, developing new audio products, and working as a consultant and contributing artist, for the cloud-based magazine, ZO, that has international connections in over 170 countries.

With a desire to score more independent and feature films, Richard is open to any size project with a great story that would inspire a powerful score.

Hey Margie & Art,
Thanks for the 5 stars. To answer your question; you are neither hearing real instruments or loops but rather meticulously programmed midi parts playing instrument samples from the Vienna Symphonic Library.

I checked out your page and was very impressed with the large catalogue of great sounding songs, and even more impressed with your ability to change styles so convincingly.

I am familiar with the hope and heartbreak that Film and TV can provide. The piece "A Day at the Country Estate" was originally written for an independent film that I was scoring that never got finished. Oh well, such is life, I write and produce mostly because I love doing it.

Yes, let's stay in touch.

Hey Richard,

Thanks you so much for the 5-star rating on my song, "I Wish That I could Heal". So many people have been responding to this song and others on my new albums. "Hollywood Altars" and "Twilight Journals", that we decided to release, "I Wish That I Could Heal" and "The Needle In His Arm".... as singles. Anyway, for a pro like yourself to acknowledge this song is really an honor. I see you are in LA. I've spent over half my life in LA and SF in the music and film business in numerous capacities, so say "Hello" to Dan Tana's and Palm. Please stay in touch..... hope you have a Great Holiday Season. Best, Chet Nichols
