Lilted

It is often said that a musician's career is defined by timing, and that could certainly be said for solo-artist Michael Burke, the musical mind behind the instruments and vocals of the Boston band, Lilted. Discovering both his passion for music and ability to communicate to others through it extremely early on, young Michael began to play the guitar at only four years of age; and though music has remained a constant in his life - it is only just now that he has truly begun to take hold of his moment and turn his dreams into reality as a 28 year-old man.

After spending much of his youth listening to and becoming influenced by musical legends like Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Elliot Smith & David Bowie, Mike's own skillset was growing at a rapid pace. Not only was he finding his talent for guitar, but also for music in general...all kinds of instruments were tried, tested & practiced-on as he refined his skills and musical palette. Heading right down any avenue the music would take him, Mike eventually became as interested in production, mixing & engineering, and the idea of assisting others with their music, as he was in making his own. Becoming a freelance audio engineer/producer, he quickly made a name for himself with his easy-going but extremely determined attitude and over the years worked on the new records of countless independent bands & artists.

At twenty-three, Michael started the groundwork for his debut release, the Pink Elephants & Saccharine Smiles EP, as Lilted. With a melodic blend of sweet-tones and rich atmospheres, Lilted consumed his every spare minute as the emotionally-lush music began to spring forth to vibrant, electric life.

The EP was finalized with the help of some fantastic personalities and prominent musicians of the Boston scene. While nearly everything you'll hear on the EP comes straight from the heart and mind of Michael Burke as Lilted; Pink Elephants & Saccharine Smiles would not have come to fruition if not for the tremendous work done by Rob Losier (Production), Sean McLaughlin (Mixing), Jeff Lipton (Mastering) and the extraordinary drums of Patrick Ahern.

The reaction to the music and outpouring of support from fans has been nothing short of incredible. Inspired to say the very least, Michael took that confirmation of his place in music and has never let the excitement dull. With his natural talent for creating emotionally-intense, dynamic sounds that cover the span of the entire musical spectrum, the captivating music of Lilted makes a lasting & memorable impression upon any set of listening ears. His lyrical talent also shines in his relatable songwriting and courage to take on any subject with maximum conviction and true authenticity.

You can currently find Lilted already back in the studio, writing and readying material for an upcoming release in 2015. Backed by Michael's commitment to excellence and seemingly endless well-of-creativity, the music he's making is something truly unique, heartfelt & extraordinary...and something that the people clearly WANT. The timing has literally never been better for Michael Burke, as Lilted.

Hey Jeff! Thanks so much for the GREAT endorsement! The kind words mean a lot!!! I can't say I've listened to a TON of Moody Blues personally, but now I want to check them out more :)

It's from a different era and vibe but you'll hear what I mean, and there's a lot of useful ideas that you can take away. The thick vocal harmonies are the crossover point with your songs. (It sounds like you've already studied Beach Boys Pet Sounds!!)
