From San Diego, Charlie Recksieck writes/performs solo and with The Bigfellas known for "smartass rock". Piano-based, but aggressively eclectic.

Best known for their more humorous tunes such as "I Wish That I Were Gay", "4:20" and the world's only golf rap, "On The Green," all of which are on their 2008 schizophrenic CD, Chubbed Up. The album's subject matter continues the Bigfellas traditional of mixing up silliness and seriousness; the record was nominated in 2009 LA Music Awards for "Album Of The Year".

In 2011 the 'Fellas appear in & made 2 new songs for a documentary about suicide called "Don't Change The Subject", and Recksieck did the full music score, released in 2012 as a soundtrack CD.

At times The Bigfellas & Charlie can be identified as piano-based music drawing comparisons to Ben Folds or Warren Zevon. In practice, they're all over the stylistic map with Beck-style jams, 1920 French accordion jazz and straight up rock guitars.

We just heard that we won the Broadjam "Song Of The Month" contest here for "Wish You Knew". We're really pleased, even though it might be fundamentally silly for one to "win" over another. But thanks, everybody! It's a sensitive one which is a departure from our normal brand of wackiness.

In 2012, Charlie also had music in the Bravo series LOLwork & The Bigfellas had a song featured in the documentary Suds County USA.

Hi Roy - Thank you for the terrific, detailed notes. I actually think that song has great potential in licensing. I'd even recut and mix tracks on it, if necessary. Any thoughts on whom to try to get it to would be MUCH appreciated. I'm trying to take control of my career - but sometimes I feel like the only part I'm good at is writing/making the music and not very good at selling it or getting it in front of (the right) people. Again, thanks for the input - always love to hear what you think. Help!!! - Charlie
