What do you do when you've been playing violin since the age of four and finally make it into a professional orchestra? Ummmmm. Quit? That's what Savannah Jo decided to do. She traded her classical chops for a guitar, banjolin and a whole swag of stories then hit the road playing in the darkest, dingiest venues across Australia and the U.S. Splitting her time between San Francisco and Brisbane, Australia, Savannah has played violin for a crazy range of artists, from George to Rod Stewart to AlanisMorissette. Somewhere out there on a long, dusty stretch of road, with no mobile reception and no-one to talk her out of it, Savannah decided it was time to record her own tunes. "Knitting Songs" is the result. Combining lush string looping, storytelling, sweet banjolin and just enough grit to keep it all real, her songs span the wide ravine between Classical and alt Americana.
