Detor is a soulful young musician-songwriter who is very generous with his emotions. Rooted in mind-bending seventies rock and alternative-metal rhythms, Detor's engaging music leaves the listener wanting to learn more about the stories behind the songs. Layers of artful improvisation are complemented by funky rhythms, all forming a very contemporary sound that pays tribute to the history and freedom of rock music. Driven by moody melodies, the vocals reveal the thoughtful intensity of a person who hopes that his music inspires people to try harder and live better.
Detor has performed with several bands throughout the New York City area, at CBGB's and Arlene's Grocery in Manhattan. He performed all of the vocals and instrumental work on this collection of songs and wants to work with other professional musicians to produce the finest sound possible.

Every decade or so, music transforms itself to epitomize the culture and the world we live in; in the Forties, the Big Band era took our minds off the geopolitical events surrounding the War, the Fifties was a return to normalcy back home and the beginning of Rock and Roll, the Sixties represented the end of this "Normalcy" and the beginning of the counter-cultural revolution to challenge the Establishment, the Seventies further opened our eyes to the alternative to the status quo, the Eighties catapulted the "Me" generation and Pop Music, and the Nineties gave us the Grunge Culture.
What will the 21st Century bring us? Whatever becomes the theme of the next decade, Derek Torres appears well positioned to use his music to connect to listeners from all genres."
