REVIEWS

"Janyse is a Canadian songbird poised to pop in a loud fun way onto the music scene with her infectious ABBA-like tune, Dreamers. Before this single Janyse put out an album of Christmas songs that's got a very old fashioned jazz sound, which proves how good she is. Actually the song that really proves her awesomeness is Elfy Under My Tree which was done in a very Betty Boop style that is bound to make young and old smile. But no one has ever become famous doing a stellar Christmas album, mores the pity, because her's is awesome in so many different ways.
It's the song Dreamers that's really going to make Canada and the rest of the world sit up and take notice, if they already haven't. Dreamers is an uplifting, motivational song that is just what the world needs right now. When you listen you'll think of two classic artists, ABBA on the vocal end and Cher for the melody that has the feel of her hit Believe. This is a song that makes you feel good as well as making you want to get up and move. If Janyse has more songs like this up her sleeve or even an album of jazzy tunes that mirror her Christmas album, she's going to take her place with some other stellar artists from Canada, namely Diana Krall and Sarah McLachlan. Give her a listen, you definitely won't regret the time spent." Andrea Guy, Mossip

"Dreamers is another hook-filled gem from Janyse, perhaps the finest Canadian vocalist who isn't yet - emphasis on "yet" - a household name". Mark Rheaume CBC Radio Toronto

"Canadian pop singer and voiceover artist Janyse lives a life of inspiration. Injuries from a car accident once had doctors telling her she might end up in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Hard work, perseverance and faith have kept her from that chair, but also driven her to become one of the top voiceover artists in the world. Janyse has voiced characters in projects such as Hulk Vs. Thor, Hulk Vs. Wolverine, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Batman: Black & White, My Little Pony, and Ed, Edd n Eddy. She is also an acclaimed Pop singer/songwriter in her native Canada. Taking cues from artists such as ABBA, Diane Warren, Peggy Lee and The Bee Gees, Janyse infuses light Pop dance beats with a positive outlook and a strong positive message. Her two most recent singles are prime examples.

Dreamers is feel good dance pop at its finest. The song encourages listeners to not give up on their dreams, irrespective of what life throws at you and of what other people might think. As dance music goes it's relatively light 1980's Dance/Pop; probably not a threat to the dance charts of today but a pleasant listen. This Day Is Mine keeps up the positive attitude with a proclamation about working hard toward your goals and celebrating each and every day for what it is. Again, light Dance/Pop with a 1980's bent. Janyse can pull this material off because she's lived it; it's hard to be this positive in the popular realm unless it's very clear you genuinely own the message, and that comes through in Janyse's delivery. Dreamers and This Day Is Mine are songs for folks who long for a sweeter age of Popular music." Wildy Haskell, Wildy's World

"Just when you thought you couldn't win at LIFE, along comes Janyse with her usual positive message that 'Yes You Can'! Combined with a light, melancholy techno sound, and ABBA-esque vocals, this song exudes a confidence that most of us 'Dreamers' are afraid to show."
Randy Sherwyn, WJPT Florida

ABOUT JANYSE

Janyse (pronounced Jen-niece) is an acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter of French and Icelandic descent. Her sound exudes the intimate purity of Karen Carpenter's voice fused with ABBA's infectious melodies and driving percussion.

But the true key to understanding Janyse is to get her inspirational message, one that she has lived out herself. Her new single, "Dreamers," is a perfectly timed message. As Janyse puts it, "I wanted to write a song to help people stay motivated and inspired in these trying times, given the state of the economy. If you can keep your mind positive and focused, you can achieve your dreams."

Over an Abba-esque arrangement ("They're a huge influence of mine," says Janyse), "Dreamers" showcases the power and range of Janyse's voice. The choruses explode, and Janyse brilliantly links her message to the other great dreamers of the past, like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The single has already achieved great acclaim, with a Best Song Nomination (Dance) in the Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards. CBC Radio Toronto has said, 'Dreamers' is another hook-filled gem from Janyse, perhaps the finest Canadian vocalist who isn't yet - emphasis on 'yet' - a household name."

Raised on a farm in Kelowna, British Columbia, and of Icelandic and French descent, Janyse had the opportunity to experience a variety of musical styles. From her parent's jukebox blaring out rock n roll and country to the classical music absorbed from her piano and ballet lessons, Janyse's influences are an amalgam of different artists and genres. "I've always been a big fan of great songwriters - such as the technique of Diane Warren, the humor of Shania Twain, and the lyrics of John Lennon. ABBA has also been an enormous influence on my music."

Janyse is also one of the top cartoon voiceover artists in the world, working with Marvel Comics, the Cartoon Network and Hasbro, playing various characters. "What I've taken from that experience is that you can't take life so seriously - you have to retain that childlike wonder and sense of fun." Through her work in animation, she met children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and became inspired to create a children's CD to help kids, titled The Magic Of Think. "I called it The Magic Of Think because the premise is that you can think of something positively or negatively - it's your choice. But by thinking positively and being persistent, you can and will achieve your dreams." The album was an immediate hit with children and their parents. Janyse has also had several of her songs placed in Film and Television, including works starring Pamela Anderson, Dean Cain, Chad Allen, Sally Pressman and more.

The inspirational message of her new single, "Dreamers," was taken from her own first hand experience, after being in a car accident. "The doctor told me that I could end up in a wheelchair, and that I should seriously consider changing careers," she recounts. "None of the things he warned me of came to pass. I took care of myself and I recovered. It was from that I learned that a dream can be achieved and that sometimes, it's just better to look at life in a humorous way."

In terms of her music, her new single "Dreamers," her outlook and her life experience itself, it's more than obvious that Janyse has stayed on her mission - to inspire people through her music.

I love this version, but I must be blind because I can't seem to find the option to buy the song if there is one here. For I have the original mix but I would love to have this one as well.
