An only child growing up in San Diego, O.B. James got the music bug early in a 6th grade guitar class. With Burt Bacharach's Raindrops, he was off and running, ending up in a plethora of bands during his high school years.

In college, he joined what would be a staple of the San Diego scene, Salty Dogs. Playing every kind of engagement imaginable (such as San Diego's Spirit Club and Civic Center) hearing considerations forced a re-evaluation. Writing instrumentals, he hoped, might provide an alternative. It worked!

Working, in his home studio, near the beach, in San Diego, O.B. has been honing his craft and enjoying this change in direction. His compositions reflect his moods and interest in movement and drama. His clients such as G&S Surfboard Films, recognize his ability to capture the essence of a moving moment. His primary focus is up-tempo instrumental music with catchy themes.
