With their latest record, "Love and then Hope," now out and garnering rave reviews, Straw Dogs continue to pump out fresh music that remains distinct despite its broad appeal. Straw Dogs continue to draw impressive comparisons: the rock and groove of Counting Crows and Ryan Adams, melody and harmony of CSN and Indigo Girls, and songwriting that demonstrates an allegiance to the craft.
Directors, radio DJs, song judges, and listeners agree. Straw Dogs and Darren Smith's amazing solo record both get regular airplay on The Mountain (103.7 FM Seattle) Sunday Brunch.
A new movie due out in late 2009 will feature a brand-new song by the band. And in 2008, two movies, including the latest from ski-film master Warren Miller, featured songs by Straw Dogs. Darren Smith's song "Ghost" was featured in the major motion picture "Feast of Love," starring Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear. It's also on the soundtrack, alongside "Hallelujah" sung by Jeff Buckley.
