Raised the daughter of a military diplomat, Peggy Atwood traveled the world from the day she was born, experiencing many cultures and being exposed to many styles of music. These experiences instilled in her an early comprehension of what people of different cultures have in common, while learning classical guitar and listening to the call of the muzzein all at the same time. International, environmental and multi-dimensional images abound in her unique and personal style of writing, which blends folk/world/rock/new age influences.
Driving subtlety, gentle anguish and passionate restraint all color the moods and hues of this versatile guitarist/songstress, who sings and plays her original material ranging from sweet and soulful ballads to paint peeling social commentary, while her high notes range from Yma Sumac plaintiveness to Grace Slick intensity and soul searching.
