IMANI, an acronym derived from five words, is the name of the band containing four members. The band’s name means: “Inspired Motivation Accomplishes New Imagination.” The group has four members of the Ndjungu family: two sisters and two brothers. They are Clarisse Ndjungu, Catone (Catman) Ndjungu, Sylvie Ndjungu and Chris Ndjungu. The four members of the group have a strong passion for music, which they inherited from their father, who was once a music teacher in high school. Thanks to their parents, the four members have always been exposed to different genres of music: from African music to Asian music, in other words, they have been lucky enough to grow up with music from all corners of the globe. The band appreciates a lot music of different origins and the members have always been inspired by them (the different sorts of music). The group writes its own songs by inspiration, especially depending on circumstances in which they find themselves.
Chris' Biography
Chris Ndjungu alias Chris Ns, fourth in the family is 18 years old. He was born on September 8, 1986, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is also a freshman at Lon Morris College in Texas where he majors in Accounting. Like the rest of the group, Chris enjoys writing songs by inspiration, and loves playing percussion. Like his brother Catman, Chris enjoys exploring the computer. His hobbies include playing soccer and working out in general.

Catone (Catman) Ndjungu, the second child in the family is 22 years old. He as born on November 1, 1982 in Mulunguishi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Catman holds an Associate degree in Computer Science from Lon Morris College in Texas, and is working towards his Bachelor’s degree in the same field. He loves the keyboard as well as playing the guitar; the keyboard assists him in his music writing; he is also learning to play the guitar. Catman fell in love with the keyboard at age nine after his father bought the first family keyboard in Switzerland. Like the rest of the group, music is his passion as well; he loves spending time writing songs, creating beats, and engineering the music. His hobbies include exploring and building computers, and playing soccer.

Sylvie Ndjungu third in the family line is 20 years old. She was born on December 4, 1984 in Kasaji in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is currently a freshman at Lon Morris College in Texas where she is majoring in Music. Sylvie really loves to sing; she has always sung ever since a very young age, because like the rest of the band, music is her passion as well. In fact, their musical gifts and loves stem from their father who is a talented and educated musician. Like the rest of the band, Sylvie loves helping others, especially those less fortunate, and loves to meditate.

Clarisse, the oldest of the family is 24 years old. She was born on january 2, 1991 in Kasaji in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She owns a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from Dillard Unversity in New Orleans, Louisiana. Clarissse loves to sing ; music is her passion. Ever since she was young, she has always sang ; she became member of an adult church choir when she was eight years old, and on her first Sunday as a member of the choir she was required to perform the only solo for that day. Ever since then, she has always sang in choirs wheever she goes. During her educational years at Dillard University , she was member of the Concert Choir and the University Choir , two big and well respected choirs in the Unite States. Clarisse’s hobbies include reading different types of books in French and English, and loves traveling.
