Americana with a Canadian twist, Fathappy spins out a brand of pop-rock that blends the musicality of Dave Matthews with the mentality of the Barenaked Ladies. The band completed its first CD, “Sumo at Heart”, in Spring 2002, its second album “Songs in B Fat” in the summer of 2004., and has since been playing around the Northwest and in Canada.

Bio

Jamie Howell, vocals/acoustic guitar - After years as a solo act, playing acoustic music in coffee houses, Jamie came kicking and screaming in protest against the idea of pumping up the volume with a full band, only to discover that is what he’d wanted all along. A student of the piano and saxophone in the jazz ensembles in college, Jamie now devotes his energies to songwriting and singing.
Jeff Ostenson, vocals/bass – Jeff’s first taste of musical performance came in first grade when he asked to sing a solo in the School Christmas program while wearing a full-body donkey costume handcrafted by his biggest fan, both then and now, his mother. Emotionally unscathed, he played sax and sang in many musical groups, right up until his senior year in high school which found him sporting a mullet and fronting an ’80s spandex band called Suite 16 playing Van Halen and Ratt
Mark Ullrich, guitar - Mark should have been delivered via C-section considering that he already had a guitar in his hands when he arrived on the birthing table. He has since apologized to his mother. Mark later endured several years of the tedium they call music school. Officially a band slut, Mark plays in more groups than can be counted on the genitalia in a roomful of hermaphrodites. He has now fallen in with the rabble that comprise Fathappy, who regularly and abuse his multi-instrumental talents while paying him exactly nothing.
