Dear Kwinn, My name is Debra, and I love your music. I play your songs at work almost everyday. (Cool Boss). I never see you in the charts here, and my office knows your songs get a lot of play. Do you know how the rankings work? You deserve to be there, much more than the same old artists that appear there all the time. It's always the same people. Are they cheating the system? Just really dig how you write about your life, and politics.

Dear Debra, Thank you for the kind words. I don't know how the rankings work, but I'm sure a few have found nefarious ways to beat the system. Broadjam has changed. I've paid $100's of dollars, because I had a lot of songs. Now the Mini Mob that's free is the same as Primo Mob, except for this. They offer web hosting, but you have to still pay for the domain name, and most companies offer hosting for free with domain purchase. I don't need 25 email accounts. Free classified ads? Not a big benefit. Discounts on submissions in Primo, but with Mini Mob prices, it would take a lot of submissions to make up $249.95. So, Primo ain't so Primo anymore. Why buy the cow when the milk is free? These are moves that MySpace made, and look at them. As far as rankings, I'd rather hit Billboard than here. Why? Because at most this site has 500 or so online at a time. Plus the same people top the rankings everyday. This has been the same for a year or two. I'll be going to Mini Mob that's free. Thank you for listening! It's people like you that make me continue to write. Hope I've explained everything OK. Thanks for being my fan!

Why they would make Mini Mob unlimited songs is mind boggling. No exclusivity anymore. I'm mad because I was punished in dollars for having a 100+ songs. Now anyone can have that many songs and not pay a dime. Thank you again for listening, and don't give up. Glad you like the songs.

Strange thing those top 10's. Can't quite work out how they work, for example I had 3 songs in the rock religious top 10 a couple of days ago - Promised Land @ #3, Lost Soul #5 and Broken #9. Today I have How can you, Lost Soul and You are the way all in the top 10 and How Can You?'s plays havent reached double figures yet!!! Can anyone shed any light on this cos I'm puzzled? Oh not knocking it tho ;o)

Adam . I've ask the same question in the past. Still waiting for a reply. !!!!

Robert Adams posted over 30 days ago

I think they must be changing the format again. It used to be based all or mostly on reviews, then it was changed to several factors, and maybe changed again? Two days ago I had #1, 2, and 3 positions on the Electronic Experimental chart with songs that had been in those positions for months; and yesterday all three disappeared from the Top Ten, and one of my other tunes (which has never been reviewed) appeared in #3.
Basically, the song is what it is, but I'm curious how this works as well.

Kwinn posted over 30 days ago

Adam, I tell you this. I've got some fans that play my music at work and home all day long. I can't make a list for weeks. Then, like yesterday, I get a whole bunch of songs suddenly jumping into the Top Ten's. Your guess is as good as mine. I really don't care. Music is like art, all in the eye of the beholder. I'd rather have folks listening...if I make a chart, great. But word of mouth is still KING!

5 lbs. of paper!? Wow, I can't afford to buy that much let alone the ink. I stopped looking at the Top 10's about 1 year ago, because it is always the same people at the top. I only know I made one is when I get an email from BJ, and even then I don't look. But you want to stop people from listening? What are they going to do? Isn't that what it's all about? Isn't that why they have a music player? BJ is another tool I have in my arsenal to sell records. I say go to Broadjam.com, quick search Kwinn, and double-click on my picture. I tell them they can listen to whole songs, rather than a 15 second snippet at the site where they are sold. I DO agree that someone who plays 1 song all day long is wrong. Or tells their friends to play ONE song all day long. Now if I made Bill Board's Top 10, I might buy paper and ink!

Oh I'm not complaining, it's great to finally get people from all over the world to listen to my songs, I just find it a bit bizarre. Anyway, lets all keep kicking out top tunes and see some proper success this year - I need to buy a new house for my ever expanding family!!!! LOL

Oh and a 7/8 seat grand voyager/vw caravelle to carry them all in!!!

Adam Maxfield posted over 30 days ago

Take some zinc and lots of it - and email me when you get back dude - glad the sessions went well and am really excited to hear the results.
And in response to your style and honesty, I can honestly say that you are as straight as they come, what you say is what you do and you are extremely passionate and focused on what you do, which is apparent in the quality of your tunes and also in your work ethic - you only need to look at who you work with in Nashville to see that as these guys aren't in it for the money and won't just work with anyone, they have to like the person as well.
SO to those whose only purpose on here is to big themselves up and slate the other 99% of cool people on here, as someone (a british comic following complaints about the language used in his act) once said, "If you don't like it F*** Off"

Adam Maxfield posted over 30 days ago

Did that make sense? Early in the morning here in UK and awake with kids during the night so brain not completely awake!!
What I forgot to add is whats the point of friending someone to slag them off?? This world is already too full of people full of their own piss and self importance and BJ doesn't need that - we are all independant artists/writers who should be supporting each other and offering constructive comments to each other to help improve everyones song quality (what 99% of people do). If you are on here purely for self promotion then just spend your money submitting to opps and don't spend time friending people to make yourself look popular!!
Its like the reviews I read for Keith Urbans latest album and slagging him off for only putting out 8 songs. Missing the point that they were 8 great songs - no filler!! (In fact one of my all time fave albums - Master of Puppets - only has 8 tracks)
Rant over - gotta go sort out the chickens now.......

Hi Scott, this is Kwinn. Thanks for the comment about "Harry Balls." As to your question, I'm using Pro-Tools here at home. Got a Delta 101LT sound card, recording in 24/96000. Using Line 6 Tone Port and Pod for my guitars and bass. Also for vocals, they have a "Fab Voc" that uses the Beatles set-up. An MXL 990 mic for vocals. All this cost me about $500 including my computer I built myself 4 years ago before all these quad core etc. came out. Pro-Tools M-Powered 7.4. The sound card I got for $170, and I think it sounds as good as much more expensive shit. I'm digging you're tunes...I be following you. I used to use a multi-track recorder and so did a friend. When I switched, he came over and heard a song, the next day he sold his recorder, bought a computer and Pro-Tools. There is a BIG difference recording at 24/96000. You can even burn CD's at 16/96000 that play in all machines. Keep up the good work. Tough business...Sincerely...Kwinn

How come no ones signed this guy? 84 songs, and none sound the same. From what I've read, he plays all the instruments and does all the vocals! It's like an oilman watching a gusher and not trying to cap it. God, the music business sucks nowadays...Debra Ho
