Michelle GrayMichelle has always loved singing and her songwriting is a natural outworking of this passion. Her formal training is in Primary Music Education and was a classroom teacher and music specialist for seven years. She was also Choir Director of Gospel Youth Choir Y-Sing for six years with the groups repertoire being a mix of standards and modern gospel songs as well as ones penned by Michelle. The group recorded three of Michelles songs for their debut EP.Those songs are included in Michelle list of songs here - Look at the Cross, When you look At Me, and From the Mountaintops. YSNG performed at the opening of the first Australian Gospel Music Festival with the legendary James Morrison.
It was when her own children were born that a passion for writing childrens songs became her focus. Now Michelle loves writing children songs and performing them for young audiences.
In 2000, Michelle (along with her husband Tim who arranges the music) formed the childrens group J.a.m., and began writing and performing her songs. Since then, the group has been invited to perform at various festivals and locations throughout Queensland and New South Wales including the Australian Gospel Music Festival, the Queensland Biennial Music Festival, Townsvilles Stable on the Strand and Kidsong World in Sydney. The group has also produced the Jam songs on DVD which has been aired on Pay-TV channels, Australian Christian Channel and Shine-TV in New Zealand.
Michelle has recently been accepted as a member of the Australian Songwriters Association and is registered as a full writer member with APRA.
Michelle's song "He's Good" from the first Jam CD/DVD has won Best Children's Song at the 2006 Australian Gospel Music Awards!!
