Bio

EMILY is an outstanding classically trained ‘cellist and inovative composer. She is a renowned master of her instrument, unique in her ability to improvise and cross genres of classical and contemporary music. She is a much in demand session player, and has worked with Roger Daltrey, George Michael, Chrissie Hind, Jools Holland, Zero 7, Stereophonics and Hans Zimmer to name a few, and is featured on numerous albums and film soundtracks. She is also known for bridging the musical gap of disparate cultures. Experiences of the native people and natural environment of Brazil have provided the initiating factor in Emily’s production of three of her own CDs, "Earth Songs"and "Footsteps in the Sand" which are song orientated and her new release "Bridge between Worlds" which is an orchestral work with solo 'cello. Her productions have been mainly sourced in Brazil and although retaining elements of her classical origins the integration of this country into her music is evident in the use of rythms and notably recordings of tribal chants.
Her most recent production "Bridge between Worlds" (2006) is an orchestral work with solo 'cello and integrated within are her own field recordings of the Xavante tribe of Brazil. In 1995 Emily founded the registered charity "Indigenous People's Cultural Support Trust" and 15% of performance royalties from tracks on "Bridge between Worlds" will support projects for a Xavante Indian community through the Trust; (www.ipcst.org)
