Troy Castellano's Bio

Hailing from the Minneapolis & St. Paul area in Minnesota, Troy Castellano has been creating and performing music since 1986. Always reaching for more heart and soul, Troy has been tapping into the magical well of feelings and emotion creating memorable songs and instrumental music for over two decades.

As with many of us that grew up in the 70s and 80s, Troy found him self enthralled with guitar oriented rock music from bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, to Van Halen. Although Troy does not sound distinctly like the bands he admires, Troy?s music reflects the many sound scapes and dynamics of guitar bands of today and the past. His music has been recently compared to Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Bryan Adams, sprinkled with a touch of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.

Troy's passion for music started one fateful X-mas in 1973 when his parents bought him his first electric guitar. Coupled with another gift of music, Deep Purple's Machine Head that year, Troy's musical fire was ignited with sparks from the soul. That fire has been a non-extinguishable flame that burns strong and bright today. Since those first sparks, Troy has felt that music is the most influential force in the world. As he says, ?Music can be the healer, the peacemaker, the influencer, the agitator, the fire starter. You name it, music has been there in all forms and emotion throughout the history of the world. Music is king!?

Throughout his career in music Troy has written, produced and recorded a full length CD with his own band the Troy Castellano Group (self titled 1999) that received airplay on 5 Minnesota radio stations and co-written and recorded songs with the brilliant, prodigy talent, Amanda Harris (her current band Gingerjake is now on the verge of being signed to a major record deal). Troy also produced and recorded Gingerjake?s first demo which helped them place 2nd in a battle of the bands contest. In turn, the win gave them a slot on the bill at the 93x Music festival in 2004 (MN/WI). They opened for Tap Root, Seether, and Theory of a Deadman.

Troy has also performed and recorded music with multiple local bands. One of the songs he played lead guitar on called ?Barnstorming? made it?s way to be the theme song for Iowa?s arena football team. Recently he has engineered, produced and recorded a 6 song EP/CD called Reliability Test Lab with his current cover/original band, To The Core, which at the time of this writing is getting local airplay. To The Core has also garnered the cover of the music magazine Stone Roller (March 2006 & March 2005) and received press in local music rags.

Quotes about Troy Castellano:

?Troy has a fantastic sound and his songs are songs that I can easily relate to?
Rockin Robin ? KBEK Radio

?Every time I hear one of Troy?s compositions I instinctively turn it up, because he rocks?
Mei Young ? KQRS Radio

?Troy electrifies the stage with the presence of a yester-year guitar great, killer tunes, and excellent performances.?
Marshall Washburn ? Stone Roller Magazine

These days Troy's passion for music is even stronger than ever before. Writing more everyday, Troy intends to purse getting his music recorded by other artists, placement in film and TV, as well as continuing to rock the ?hood? with his constantly booked band To The Core. Stay tuned and be sure to come back to this page every so often to hear the new music Troy Castellano has to offer your musically seasoned ears!
