Bio for David WattI live on the west coast of Canada, in the same area in which I was born. I have a wife, a daughter, and a dog, and God has been good to me.
My interest in music is mostly composing for orchestra. I also play piano, clarinet, and cello at a modest level.
I have been studying composition since 1987. I started as a way of filling time while between jobs and it sort of stuck. I am largely self taught and much of my composition training has been done through study of textbooks and scores from the public library. I also took a couple of correspondence courses and a few lessons along the way.
In my music, I like to communicate something. It's usually something of the beauty I see in life around me. I believe even instrumental music communicates so I like to share with the world through it. Sometimes it's only an attitude or emotion and sometimes it's a story. I also like to give the listener a melody that they can savour. One that will stick with them and that they'll find themself humming afterward or whistling to work the next day.
