Part 2

"My first professional gig at age 16 was playing support for the great Jack Bruce in a packed, sweaty night club in Scotland - Jack was fronting a high powered, rocking 5 piece... Lord knows how we got the gig, I think the promoter was desperate haha. It was a small club so we all had to share the kitchen as a makeshift dressing room - quite an experience in itself. Our 20 minute set went down surprisingly well thankfully ie. we made it out alive, and the whole experience was seminal in defining my commitment to music.

Anyway, so after that me & Dave went on to play a few more wee small gigs as a duo until Dave announced that he had some German pals who were interested in coming over to Scotland & putting a band together...

So they did - we had a 4 piece band together, 7 days of rehearsal /writing and we had a show!

We played at the Edinburgh Festival, sharing a venue with 'Badinage' theatre Co. with a booking in a 'Fringe' venue...

We played at 11 am for 2 weeks to audiences that averaged 5-6 people, we played on the streets of Edinburgh and, thanks to our fantastic publicist we got a gig on Bryan Matthews 'Round Midnight' show on BBC Radio!

After the Edinburgh Festival German guitarist Torsten Brandes co-ordinated a 3 month tour of Northern Germany - we played at venues large & small, cafes theatres, nightclubs all across the top half of the country - we played in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Berlin and many other towns & cities in between... it was amazing

"Up until a couple of years ago I've always felt the need to be in a band. Since then I've made a total commitment to my solo career and I know that it's the best decision I've ever made - musically or otherwise. I have to admit it's a little scary at times but the rewards that are beginning to transpire are reassuringly gratifying...
