Jackie Jackson, Jackson Five, LeSeptember 4, 2008
To Whom It May Concern:
On this legendary and celebratory day that my brothers and I prepare to receive the honor of being named BMI Icons at the 8th Annual Urban Awards Ceremony, it is with great pride that I recommend my young protégé, artist Donny B. Lord, to join your roster of phenomenal talent. In continuing a legacy of great showmanship and talent, Donny incredibly possesses the same precision, execution and command-of-the-stage that have been the signature of the Jackson 5!
I have witnessed his development as a singer, songwriter, producer, and performer over the years and have been instrumental in honing his craft and helping him establish his distinct musical style -- a fusion of mainstream contemporary Pop music with his Caribbean roots.
When I first met Donny, I was so captivated by his performance that I immediately referred to him as a "Little Michael". I selected Donny out of hundreds of young male singers to join "MIXX", a singing group that I had created at the time. He is an incredible singer and producer in the studio, capable of laying down multiple layers of background vocals, harmonies, a strong lead Pop/R&B vocal, or his Caribbean "chant style" singing -- completely on his own or directed by a producer. As a performer, he is mesmerizing, never failing to take the audience on a spellbinding journey as he interprets every lyric. Additionally, he is a sleek and polished dancer, who is classically trained in ballet and martial arts. He is very personable, takes direction well, and is well versed in many different genres and styles of music.
Donny's story is just as interesting and exciting as his musical style. He is not only an impressive artist, whom I envision achieving the fame and popularity parallel to other mainstream male Pop acts such as Justin Timberlake, Akon, and or Usher, to name a few, he is an articulate and well mannered young man. Donny is an honor student who graduated from USC with a degree in Public Relations and Journalism and is trained in dealing and handling the media. He has lived and traveled the world, experiencing and embracing many different cultures, making him an artist of universal appeal, and for achieving international superstardom.
I know he is a complete package and is truly destined for superstardom.

Genre: Pop/R&B/Reggae
Similar Artists: Akon, Justin Timberlake, Damian Marley & Usher
In 2008, D.B.L. became the Number 5 Most Popular Unsigned Artist on MySpace!
D.B.L. is the protege of Jackie Jackson, who is the eldest brother of Michael Jackson and member of the legendary Jackson Five. He was trained as a vocalist, an actor, a martial artist and a dancer in the studies of Modern, African, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Ballet. But it was in music that Lord found his strongest passion and he took inspiration from the musical sounds of Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock, Middle Eastern, and African, to establish his own distinct musical style.
- "D.B.L. is a fusion of mainstream contemporary Pop music with Caribbean roots" (Jackie Jackson)
D.B.L.'s "Get On The Floor" was featured during superproducer Timbaland's son's birthday party on MTV's My Super Sweet 16. His Latin/Dancehall "Fire!", featuring platinum-selling Costa Rican recording artist, Paco, has been featured in advertising campaigns for Motorola and Verizon, earned second place in the Dance Category of the International Songwriting Competition, being selected out of 11,000 entries from more than 60 countries, and was featured in the Emmy-award winning television series "The District" and "Cane" on CBS. Lord's "Soldier For Love"reached #2 on the African Reggae charts and his R&B slow jam"Stay" reached #4 on the East African charts. He has had seven songs in six of the Top 10 categories on Broadjam.com. His 4-song EP "We Can Do It Like..." is available on
Last year he wrote and produced "Brat Girls" and starred in his first music video for the song, which received almost two million views on MySpace and can still be seen on YouTube. The message-themed video parodies the irresponsible ramifications of the "Party Like a Rock Star" Hollywood lifestyle, and showcases D.B.L.'s multi-talents as a dancer and performer, as well as a singer, songwriter, and music producer. For the video he even stepped out of his comfort zone, purposely donning crazy over the top makeup with a full gothic getup. D.B.L. recently completed his second music video for his song "Addicted".
D.B.L. is a personable, well spoken, articulate and respectful young man who values education as well as his career. Growing up, he attended some of the most prestigious private schools in the United States as well as Europe and he recently graduated from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California with a BA in Public Relations with Honors. He is well trained at dealing with the media. His father is a legendary maverick in the political field.
D.B.L. is in the studio writing and producing his first complete album. With soulful Pop vocals of Michael Jackson, the raspy cries of Bob Marley & Sting, the urban sounds of the Caribbean and Hip Hop, D.B.L. writes and produces music with commercial appeal and strong international roots. As his career reaches new heights, D.B.L. has already begun to ride the wave of the online independent music industry revolution that has given him a fan base. He is also a spiritual warrior who is creating new possibilities every day in life, music and in the arts.
