Amy Syd is a singer-songwriter who loves to write thought-provoking and inspirational songs and compositions. Many are emotional ballads that address love and relationships of all kinds, as well as one's relationship with oneself. She also writes instrumental music and children's music.

Amy Syd Babcock

Amy Syd grew up in White Plains, New York. She discovered music at the age of 4 when she memorized the soundtrack to Mary Martin's Peter Pan and would perform for her parent's guests. She began to learn piano at the age of 5, flute at 9, guitar at 13 and piccolo at 15, which is also the age she wrote her first song. In high school, she traveled to Manhattan on Saturdays to study flute and voice at the precollege at Juilliard and in college minored in music at SUNY Fredonia. Her major was in Theater Arts.

Amy Syd came back to songwriting in her 30s when her children were small and she started teaching piano to children. When her husband wanted to buy a motorboat, they made a deal he could buy the boat if she could produce a CD, which was released in 1999, entitled "Inner Landscape". Her second CD, "An Armful of Flowers" was released in 2006.

Today, she teaches piano and voice to mostly children between the ages of 6 and 15, as well as coaches drama and speech. She writes and promotes her music in her spare time. And this past summer (2015) she began creating music videos using beautiful photos downloaded from canstockphoto.com.
