Artist Description

Alva Nelson is a multi-faceted musician who performs and creates music that is diverse, sophisticated and exhilarating. Nelson has performed & recorded with Lightnin' Hopkins, Kirk Whalum, & Regina Belle. Alva has been musical director for "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Violet", & "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill". Alva wrote three songs and produced Dorothy Leigh's "A Second Chance", a Jazzy/R&B compilation of ten original songs, all arranged for Nelson's 17-piece orchestra. "Intimate Moments" is a beautiful duo collection of jazz standards featuring Nelson's piano and Leigh's vocals. "Soul Eyes" is Alva Nelson's latest jazz piano release. Alva produced Juanita Flemings' "Redeemed", a Gospel/Jazz Hybrid CD highlighting his arranging skills. Juanita also contributed five songs to "A Second Chance". Nelson's arrangement of Stevie Wonder's "Send One Your Love" on Robin Eubanks' "Karma", and the single, "Another Chance to Give" by Genie Swinson are other examples of Alva Nelson's skills

Hey hey Alva, thanx for the review of "It Must Be You". I appreciate the feedback on the mix and the questionable genre and I will certainly consider your suggestion as the song was never really even mixed or mastered yet. Just a rockabilly that I submitted for a "sultry jazz song". We dumped all the rock guitar tracks to fit the submission criteria. Oh the things we do to make some noise. Aloha from Hawaii-Surf's-up! Literally.
