Alva Nelson is a multi-faceted musician who performs and creates music that is diverse, sophisticated and exhilarating. Nelson has performed & recorded with Lightnin' Hopkins, Kirk Whalum, & Regina Belle. Alva has been musical director for "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Violet", & "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill". Alva wrote three songs and produced Dorothy Leigh's "A Second Chance", a Jazzy/R&B compilation of ten original songs, all arranged for Nelson's 17-piece orchestra. "Intimate Moments" is a beautiful duo collection of jazz standards featuring Nelson's piano and Leigh's vocals. "Soul Eyes" is Alva Nelson's latest jazz piano release. Alva produced Juanita Flemings' "Redeemed", a Gospel/Jazz Hybrid CD highlighting his arranging skills. Juanita also contributed five songs to "A Second Chance". Nelson's arrangement of Stevie Wonder's "Send One Your Love" on Robin Eubanks' "Karma", and the single, "Another Chance to Give" by Genie Swinson are other examples of Alva Nelson's skills
