JUST A BREEZE

Vain is led by Brighton- based duo ''DT'' Viners and Marc Lagrue. They have gigged extensively in France where one of the highlights of the set was their French version of track 4 of the CD, ''Tu T''es Moquee De Moi''. Returning from France a year ago, Vain have been recording material to follow on from the single ''Just A Breeze'' released on the, now defunct, Ayers Rock label in 1993 with all proceeds (and there were plenty!) going to the Fund for Refugees in Slovenia. ''Just A Breeze'' was inspired by the conflict in the Balkans and is featured as track 2 of this CD. The album is rock-with-a-hard-edge but with a tune. From the hard and fast ''Reasons'' to the blues ballad ''I''m Lost Without You'', the pace changes but the intensity does not; ending with their 8-minute tour de force ''Sound Of The Sea'' where impassioned vocal meets incendiary guitar. Raw-edged and passionate, these songs are, nevertheless, melodic with lyrics full of irony and contemporary comment. Enjoy the Vain experience! I Will Be Waiting - A haunting tribute to hope in a land of conflict; Just A Breeze - A despairing anthem to the futility of war; Smoking Gun - A classic rock ballad narrating the path from love to tragedy; You Made A Fool Out Of Me - Cynical self-pity dominates this hard driving lament; I''m Lost Without You - A powerful yet romantic reflection on life''s passing; Stranger In This Town - The inevitable consequences of returning home from the high life; Reasons - A defiant reaction to the loss of a friend but who & why? Walking Round In Circles - An angry response to the impact of romantic desertion; You Give Me Heartache - The wailing harmonica epitomises this bluesy view of personal relationships; Sound Of The Sea - Inspired by the savage Brittany coastline, a raucous commentary on love and its passing.
