Where The Highway Leads

Review: Steve Doyle is a 2004 Starmaker finalist and it shows in this fine new CD by the classy young performer. The opening rack is the new single A Car Load Of People, already making inroads on Australian radio with its simple take-me-back reminiscences. Steve is a consummate songwriter and the album is a wonderful collection of his contemporary country style. Just In Time, No Work Today and the 2002 released single In The Country are quality high spirited works. Lonesome Road Tonight (written with Troy Gentz) is a gently rolling bluesey contribution. His award winning track (TSA Vic-Song and Mildura Top Of The State songwriting competition) He Thinks That’s Too Far has been renamed for the album and now stands in pride of place as the title track Where The Highway Leads. The track is one of unpretentious depths. Produced by Joe Camilleri, the album is equally unpretentious, but still retains a simple sophistication from Steve’s innovative songwriting skills. - Deborah Minter, Capital News
