Stoned By Dreams

FLAUNT MAGAZINE (feb 2009) Have you ever received a love letter, only to discover it to be an intensely earnest encapsulation of the struggle of life and love, all through words written to you? The inner jaded monster in you begged to let it eviscerate this sweet honesty, but you sensed that behind the violins and gushing metaphors was something like the beautiful truth. Merlinmoon's new album, Stoned by Dreams, doesn't so much walk this tenuously maudlin line as it dares you to become reacquainted with stargazing, tears of joy, and universal awareness. A musical cocktail, equal measures Pink Floyd and Coldplay, with a dash of Radiohead's electronic bitters, the album is catchy and meaningful. Even the nearly twenty-minutes opus "Days of Rage Into the LIght" satisfies, and with thoughtful philosophizing to boot in a booklet that shares Merlinmoon's writings: "The world has an exclusive flavor if we can awaken to ti, if we are able to love starting with ourselves". Here, the musician gives us a taste of the motivation behind the 'Moon with the of his favorite songs from the silver screen.
