Holy Empire

earRotator thinks American Empire is a bad idea, so they made a CD about it called Holy Empire. This debut CD, released on 9/11/2003, contains great songs about politics, war, peace, love, sex, and the relationship between humans and their technology. Their high-energy live show includes a large video screen on which they project re-contextualized news footage and music videos with a plot, to tell a very different story from the mainstream media. They believe in spreading their message with a sense of humor, and offering a funny yet thought-provoking take on current events in the form of great songs and arresting videos. A powerful and unique voice in the peace movement, earRotator is collaborating with other artists to "subvert Empire and create a free future." earRotator is a duo consisting of Dave Barrows on sax and vocals and Mark Schleunes on guitar and vocals, with video by Margaret Boehm and a killer DVD that accompanies their live performance. Since the release of their CD they have been performing at clubs, on the street and at anti-war demonstrations for the past several months to a tremendously enthusiastic response. Their CD can be purchased at Amoeba Records in Berkeley or online at earRotator.com.
