Orange Sunshine

Rock - Punk

Orange Sunshine is the second album from Arizona's psychedelic glitter punks, Blanche Davidian. The 12 track CD was released as a joint release effort between the band's own Exquisite Swine label and Vodka Tonic Media (owned and operated by manager and former member Vil Vodka). As with their 2002 debut album Attack of the Killer, each and every track was self-produced by Blanche Davidian at their own Sonar Digital Studios in Phoenix. This time around Roger Seibel at SAE handled the mastering while Pickster Uno (Universtile Music) handled the album’s artwork. Since their infancy, Blanche Davidian has gained a reputation as one of the best live acts in the Southwest. The amount of local publicity the band has accumulated is unmatched with positive press in every newspaper, fanzine, and tabloid based out of Phoenix (and many national publications including MRR, AMP, and Skratch). The notoriety earned the group an opportunity to perform at the 2004 SXSW Musical Festival in Austin, TX as well as capturing the coveted “Featured Band of the Month” honors in February 2005 on Arizona’s most visited music resource site, AZPUNK.com. Blanche Davidian also appeared at the 2004 Phoenix New Times Music Showcase (nominated for Best Hard Rock) and has shared the same stage with such nationals as Melt Banana, Supagroup, The Bellrays, Black Halos, The Nervous Return, NoMeansNo, Jeff Dahl, & TSOL. Orange Sunsine is a more guitar driven album than the debut while shedding much of the artsy and gothic character Blanche Davidian once had. The band’s signature background harmonies and Jamie Monistat’s innovative vocabulary and pun-soaked song titles have not been sacrificed. The direct reason for the more aggressive output on Orange Sunshine is 5+ years as an actual live band (as opposed to the studio-only approach of Attack of the Killer) as well as their longtime admiration for the European “rawk
