Few of my Favorite Songs

Jazz - Smooth Jazz

Anyone familiar with Beverly Johnson's affectionate way with a tune will be charmed by her celebration of songs from a special place in her heart. Beverly's Christmas CD entitled A Few of My Favorite Songs blends the traditional and contemporary in a harmonious package that her audience can cozy up to. Beverly's sparkling vocal ranges shine with pure delight in A Few of My Favorite Songs. Listeners will feel her inspired passion setting the mood for treasured Christmas memories in swaying styles from breezy jazz, playful pop, R&B mixes, and mellow, rhythmic praise. The influence of a devoted musical family, including renowned recording artists, comes through in Beverly's own gifted style spanning Classical, Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, and Standards. To say Beverly was born to wonderful Christian parents who awakened and promoted her love of music is not a mere cliché - it's the truth! Her mother, a wonderful soprano, traveled around the South with the soul-stirring Arthur White Jubilee Singers, a very popular gospel group in the early 40's and 50's. Her father, also very musically inclined, played a mean alto sax in his day. Beverly's aunt, the late Ethel Smith (Cook), lived in Detroit and grew up with Motown great Martha Reeves, and sang with "Martha Reeves and the Vandellas" in their early days. Beverly's other favorite recording artists include Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Phyllis Hyman, Dionne Warwick, Doris Day, Anita O'Day and Beverly Sills. Simply put, melodies of influential impact constantly filled the Johnson household. Over the years, Beverly continued her classical training, fine-tuning her voice into the versatile instrument it is today. Beverly's sincere joy to perform honored and beloved music in A Few of My Favorite Songs will be felt in the hearts of her listeners. The delicate vocal flavors she brushes upon the timeless tunes named among her favorites provide a serene setting for sharing egg nog and decorated cookies this Christmas.
