With a move back to New York City in 1987, I felt inspired to compose my first ballad, "Let Yesterday Be Gone" after a year of many new challenges and working.
It is because dance music became a strong influence in my life during the days of disco - while living in cities such as New York, San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles - an upbeat melody is what I carried feeling inspiration in writing new songs such as "When Opportunity Knocks" waiting on a call to go back to work and "I've Got To Make A Love Call".
While I learned to sing the hymn "Love Lifted Me" in church from the traditional religious sense of singing with others, I felt even moreso spiritually inspired many years later to express in my own words and music a new composition to reflect from my own life experience to compose anew "Love Lifted Me".
