Nicole Mitchell

Singer, songwriter, actress, entertainer are but a few words that describe the effervescent Ms. Mitchell. Born in Michigan, Ms. Mitchell always loved to perform and started her career performing in stage productions around her hometown of Kalamazoo. Her vocal training and stage persona came at the expert hands of Bertha McNeal, a member of Motown’s Velvelettes. Ms. Mitchell’s strong vocal talent led her to being cast as a replacement (Shenzi) in Disney’s “The Lion King.” Other appearances included Dreamgirls and Beehive.

Starring and co-starring in various stage and film productions, Ms. Mitchell moved to Chicago where she joined several R&B bands and began performing at various venues around the city and headlined venues such as Chicago’s Park West, where she was labeled as the “first independent act to fill to capacity,” and the HotHouse.

Having always loved writing lyrics, Ms. Mitchell teamed up with Keith Henderson, former musical director for R. Kelly and Anita Baker, just to name a few. Together the pair created what Ms. Mitchell terms a “journey,” with her first CD “The Many Moods of Me.” Described as “smooth,” with “powerful vocals,” her first CD has witnessed brisk sales both nationally and abroad. From the cover of the popular Cherrelle song “Everything I Miss at Home,” to the easy groove of “Life Goes On,” followed by the infectious “Completely Over You,” this maiden CD hints of jazz, blues, soul and reggae.

Ms. Mitchell’s much anticipated second CD, “A Sound of My Own,” is scheduled to be released in early 2008, features Keith Henderson, Khari Parker (drummer for Boz Skaggs and Raphael Saadiq), Sharay Reed (bassist for Patti LaBelle, R. Kelly and Yolanda Adams) and G Wiz, a “hot” up and coming producer. This CD for Ms. Mitchell reflects a lot of profession, personal and spiritual growth for the singer/songwriter, who wrote the lyrics for all of the upcoming songs featured on the next CD.

Currently splitting time between Dallas and Chicago, Ms. Mitchell hopes to introduce her music to the whole world one listener at a time!
