Katana's Lucky Story
Katana July 1, 1981 Born in Rolla, Mo. quickly relocated to Europe and then settling in Tehran, Iran Where her father Ezza Auraee a University of Missouri Alumni took Position as one of the top Mining Engineers in the country . During the revolution because of her father's education he was forced to serve in Iranian Army not feeling safe for a small child her mother finally returned her to the United States by age 2. Growing up in Fremont Nothern California her musical influences were cultivated by her grandfather John Niemeyer who taught her to play piano in their home. His influences were Led Zepplin the Doors and other 70's rock bands. Her great grandmother Gavina Lopez Perez was an Opera Singer and this loving form of song was passed on to her through her Grandmother Sonia Niemeyer by whom she was raised. Listening to many family stories trials and tribulations while riding horseback with her grandmother she realized singing is what she trully loved.Upon moving to Atlanta Katana was put in Modeling / Charm School at the age of 14 she was already working as a runway model. Being in the party scene at a young age infuenced Katana artistically. Being Heavily influenced by her Adopted mother Erlinda Mendez Son Albert Mendez A.K.A. DJ X-bert who currently produces Christian music in Atlanta Ga.She dove deeper into the club scene and joined 2 breakdancing crews in Atlanta. The Mendez Family who adopted Katana gave her nothing but the best love and care and an unlimited access to her older brothers Turntables and all the Dj Q - bert videos you could stand.After years of countless Mr. Wiggles and Afrika Bambatta concerts at House of Blues Cheerleading and lots of practice is where she got her great 8 count down pat. Shortly after training side by side with Q 100's DJ Andre Perry A.K.A. Dj 808 she moved to New Orleans , La. where she worked as a AM radio Talkshow Host and Fashion Model. She currently resides in Houston , Texas after relocating there from Hurricane Katrina's destructive Path Katana sought the meaning of what her career path was taking and found that the music was where her heart rests.A college graduate and proud mother to Jocelyn Nguyen she continues to model and design clothing her music will be heard throughout the world in hopes to bring loves closer together.
