Biography

Cloaked Characters was established in 2000 by Joseph Tavares (a.k.a. Chlorine/Jay Tablet) and Rory Restani (a.k.a. Rory Oneders). Their music has been described as poetic hip-hop with deep, philosophical lyrics and is backed by producer Mr. E's unique and energetic beats. With influences to include Tupac, for his passionate poetry, Swollen Members, for their character and energy, and Pink Floyd, for their musicianship and psychedelic sound, Cloaked Characters has quickly made a name for themselves in Central Oregon, and is recognized by The Source Weekly as being a regular part of the local hip-hop scene. More live performances are on the rise as Cloaked Characters is known by promoters to always bring a solid energetic presence to shows. They've shared the stage with artists such as E-40, Abstract Rude, Dj, Vadim, Yarah Bravo, Sweatshop Union, 2Live Crew, and many more. Also have worked closely with Person People, The Cool Table, Beathoven, Benzo, Radio ,Reed Thomas Lawrence and countless other hip-hop and rock & roll artists. You can find them doing local shows regularly and are currently planning a Northwest Action Film/Hip-Hop tour and an Eastern European Tour. Past albums include underground mix tape "1422 Madison Avenue" (2001), Chlorine's solo "Costly Moves" (2002), and an unofficial release of "Zonkedout - Limited Edition" (2007). "Zonkedout Tantrum" is coming soon and will be the first official Cloaked Characters album to be released.
